Outlook Mobile with Infomaniak: Configuration Guide

The InfoSwitch Team 17 février 2026 7 min read

If you use Outlook on your computer, you\'ll appreciate the interface consistency offered by Outlook mobile. The free app for iOS and Android supports IMAP accounts and is easy to configure with Infomaniak. Emails, integrated calendar, and focused inbox: here\'s how to make the most of it.

Create My Infomaniak Mail Account

Why Outlook Mobile?

Microsoft offers Outlook for free on iOS and Android. The app provides several advantages over native mail apps:

  • Focused Inbox – AI automatically sorts your important emails
  • Integrated calendar – Calendar view without switching apps
  • Smooth multi-account – Switch between personal and professional accounts
  • Consistent interface – Similar to Outlook desktop, reducing the learning curve
  • Cloud integrations – Direct access to OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive for attachments

Although published by Microsoft, the Outlook mobile app works perfectly with non-Microsoft accounts, including Infomaniak.

Installing Outlook Mobile

The app is free and available on the stores:

  • iOS: App Store → Search "Microsoft Outlook"
  • Android: Play Store → Search "Microsoft Outlook"

Download and install the app. On first launch, it guides you through adding an account.

Setting Up Your Infomaniak Account

1

Start the Setup

Open Outlook. If it\'s your first time, tap Get Started. Otherwise, go to settings (gear icon) → Add Account.

2

Enter Your Email Address

Type your full Infomaniak email address and tap Continue.

3

Select Account Type

Outlook automatically detects the account type. If multiple options appear, choose IMAP.

4

Enter the Password

Type your Infomaniak password. If you\'ve enabled 2FA, use an application password.

5

Automatic Configuration

Outlook attempts to automatically detect server settings. If it works, skip to step 7.

6

Manual Configuration (If Needed)

If auto-detection fails, tap "Configure Manually" and enter:

IMAP Server

  • Hostname: mail.infomaniak.com
  • Port: 993
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address

SMTP Server

  • Hostname: mail.infomaniak.com
  • Port: 465
  • Security type: SSL/TLS
  • Username: Your full email address

Finalize

Outlook connects and syncs your emails. You can add more accounts or start using the app.

Key Features

Focused Inbox

Outlook automatically sorts your emails into two tabs:

  • Focused – Important emails based on the algorithm (frequent senders, replies to your messages, etc.)
  • Other – Newsletters, automated notifications, less urgent emails

You can move emails between tabs; Outlook learns from your preferences. If you don\'t like this feature, disable it in Settings → Mail → Focused Inbox.

Integrated Calendar

Outlook includes a calendar accessible via the icon at the bottom of the screen. For IMAP accounts like Infomaniak, the calendar is local to the app (no automatic CalDAV synchronization).

If you want to sync your Infomaniak calendar, you have two options:

  • Use the native iOS/Android app with CalDAV for the calendar
  • Export your Infomaniak calendar in iCal and import it into Outlook

Calendar Limitation

Outlook mobile doesn\'t natively support CalDAV for two-way calendar synchronization with third-party providers. For full sync with Infomaniak, use the native Calendar app on your phone configured with CalDAV, or use the Infomaniak webmail to manage your calendar.

Swipe Gestures

Outlook offers customizable gestures for quickly processing your emails:

  • Configurable left/right swipe (archive, delete, schedule, mark as read)
  • Customize in Settings → Swipe Gestures

Email Scheduling

The "Snooze" option lets you bring back an email later (this evening, tomorrow, next week). Useful for dealing with an email at the right time without forgetting it.

Recommended Settings

Mobile Signature

Create a specific signature for emails sent from your mobile:

  1. Settings → Signature
  2. Enable "Per Account Signature" if you want different signatures per account
  3. Write your signature (plain text, no complex HTML)

Notifications

Configure notifications to your preferences:

  1. Settings → Notifications
  2. Choose to receive notifications for all emails or only the Focused inbox
  3. Set quiet hours to avoid being disturbed at night

Synchronization

By default, Outlook syncs emails from the last 30 days. To change this:

  1. Settings → select your account
  2. Days of mail to sync → choose the period (7 days to unlimited)

A longer period consumes more storage on your phone.

Adding Multiple Accounts

Outlook excels at multi-account management. To add another account:

  1. Tap your profile picture in the top left
  2. Tap the "+" icon or "Add Account"
  3. Follow the same setup process

You can then:

  • View the unified inbox (all accounts together)
  • Switch to a specific account by selecting it
  • Choose which account to send from when composing

Troubleshooting

Authentication Error

  • Verify you\'re using the full email address as username
  • If you have 2FA enabled, generate an application password in Infomaniak Manager
  • Try logging into the webmail to verify the account works

Emails Not Syncing

  • Pull down in the inbox to force a refresh
  • Check your internet connection
  • In Settings → account, verify the account isn\'t paused

Large Attachments Won\'t Send

Outlook mobile limits attachment size based on your account and connection. For large files:

  • Use the cloud integration (OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive) to share a link
  • Or use kDrive and share a link from the kDrive app

Delayed Notifications

  • On Android, disable battery optimization for Outlook
  • On iOS, check that notifications are allowed in Settings → Notifications → Outlook
  • In Outlook, check notification settings and quiet hours

Outlook vs Native Apps

Should you use Outlook mobile or native apps (iOS Mail, Gmail Android)?

Criterion Outlook Mobile Native App
Interface Consistent with Outlook desktop Native to the OS
Smart sorting Yes (Focused) Limited
CalDAV calendar Not native Yes (iOS)
CardDAV contacts Not native Yes (iOS)
Multi-account Excellent UX Varies
Non-Microsoft Data routes through Microsoft Direct connection

If you prioritize full integration with Infomaniak calendars and contacts, native iOS apps are preferable. If you\'re looking for a consistent Outlook experience and smart inbox, Outlook mobile is an excellent choice.

Conclusion

Outlook mobile offers a polished user experience and advanced features like smart email sorting. Configuration with Infomaniak is straightforward thanks to IMAP support.

Keep in mind the CalDAV calendar limitation: for complete synchronization, combine Outlook (for emails) with the native Calendar app (for CalDAV agenda).
