Methodology

The 6 steps of your migration

Step 1

Audit & assessment

We start with a complete assessment of your current infrastructure:

  • Inventory of mailboxes and total data volume
  • Identification of current provider (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, other)
  • Mapping of email clients in use (Outlook, Apple Mail, mobile)
  • Analysis of shared calendars and contacts
  • Gathering business constraints (required availability, deadlines)
Deliverable: A complete assessment with a detailed proposal and projected timeline.
Step 2

Technical preparation

1-2 days

Before migrating anything, we prepare the destination infrastructure:

  • Creation of Infomaniak accounts with appropriate quotas
  • Configuration of aliases and forwarding rules
  • Preparation of DNS records (MX, SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Lowering DNS TTL for fast propagation
  • Connectivity tests and IMAP validation
Deliverable: Infrastructure ready to receive your data and mail flow.
Step 3

Data migration

Variable

The core of the process: secure transfer of all your data.

  • Complete IMAP synchronization via imapsync (emails, folders, labels)
  • Export/import of calendars in ICS format
  • Export/import of contacts in VCF format
  • Recreation of shares and access permissions
  • Verification of migrated data integrity

Transparency: This synchronization runs in the background. Your users continue working normally on the old system.

Step 4

DNS switchover

A few hours

The key moment: we redirect the mail flow to Infomaniak.

  • Update MX records to point to Infomaniak
  • Activation of SPF, DKIM and DMARC records
  • Delta synchronization of the latest received emails
  • Active monitoring of worldwide DNS propagation
  • Validation of reception on the new servers

Optimal timing: We schedule this switchover at a quiet time (evening or weekend) to minimize impact on your business.

Step 5

Workstation configuration

1-2 days

We make sure every user can work normally.

  • Send and receive tests for each account
  • Verification of access to calendars and contacts
  • Configuration of mail clients (Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird)
  • Setup of mobile devices (iOS, Android)
  • Distribution of personalized user guides
Deliverable: Each user has a fully functional access to their email and data.
Step 6

Post-migration support

30 days included

The migration doesn't end at the switchover. We remain available.
